Lab of Public Health Faculty of Medicine University of Patras

The Unit of Environmental Microbiology, Department of Health Laboratory of the University of Patras is an innovative molecular laboratory specializing in 4 areas, namely Water Quality, Food Quality, Public Health and Health.

The lab is implementing innovative solutions to anticipate and solve future problems for food plants and water bodies. It has high level of know-how and expertise, performance and applies fast and reliable methods / techniques.

The activities of the laboratory are as follows:

 

Molecular Identification

Molecular identification and standardization of microbial agents in water and food. Laboratory experience is related to the molecular identification of new and emerging microbial agents or those that present a problem in detection methods (viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi). Use of innovative and rapid molecular methods.

 

Research & Development (R&D) Activities

The experience of the Laboratory is based on active research and development as well as on many collaborations with internationally renowned universities and laboratories. The scientists of the laboratory are known for their scientific and technological knowledge, their active participation in ELOT (Hellenic Standardization Organization) and working groups in the field of water and food microbiology.

 

Detection and Identification of Intestinal Viruses

The Laboratory experience is based on active research and development as well as on many collaborations with internationally renowned universities and laboratories. The laboratory scientists are known for their scientific and technological knowledge, their active participation in ELOT (Hellenic Standardization Organization) and working groups in the field of water and food microbiology.
